Ms.Aziz

Ms.Aziz, all of my photos and explanations are located on this blog. I decided to do a blog because I believe that it looks orderly and also easy to understand. My photos were originally done in alphabetical order, but because of the settings, they are now in reverse order.

Different Types of Lipids

The foods photographed above both contain lipids. The lipids found in the vegetable oil differ from those found in the chocolate icing. The lipids in the oil are unsaturated. On a molecular level, Unsaturated fats have a bend in them so they don't line up/stick together as well. On the other hand, saturated lipids have a straight, almost linear shape. They can line up together and are more "sticky." The formation of the lipids is thought to contribute to the way they stick in the body. Saturated fats would remain in the body 'better' when compared to unsaturated fats. Because of their make up, unsaturated fats are healthier.

Different Types of Carbohydrates

Both of the foods photographed above contain carbohydrates, but the carbohydrats found in the pasta differ from the kind found in the Oreo. The carbohydrates in the pasta are complex, meaning that the energy released from the glucose created is slow and more sustained. Oreos on the other hand, contain a great deal of simple sugars which mean that the energy released from the glucose created is fast and unstable. Simple sugar carbohydrates can case peaks and crashes as far as blood sugars are concerned, and that is never a good thing. It is important to have a balanced diet.

Organisms in Different Kingdoms

All living things on Planet Earth are characterized and divided into different Kingdoms. While both the human and the plant photographed above are living organisms, they belong to Different Kingdoms. The human belongs to Kingdom Animalia, while the plant belongs to Kingdom Plantae.

Tropism

The potted plant above has most of the flowers leaning towards one side, because of the Tropism that has occurred. I turned the plant towards myself while taking the picture so that you could fully take notice to how the flowers yearn to be near the sunlight. Tropism is a natural occurrence that allows plants to grow towards their stimuli.

Thorn of a Plant

The thistle photographed above contains many thorns in order to keep itself protected. The thorns are the small, spike-shaped pointed tips. They are sharp and designed to scare off predators. When touched by a potential predator, the thorns go into the skin and cause pain. Thorns are utilized by plants in defense against the surroundings.

Stem-Woody

The photograph above consists of the trunk to a tree, also referred to as a Woody Stem. Unlike the herbaceous stem, the woody stem is harder in structure, made out of wood, and has some sort of bark exterior covering. Woody stem plants include trees, bushes, and shrubs. Woody stems are able to survive year round and make up most of the worlds tallest and largest plants.

Stem-Herbaceous

The stems that hold up the plants photographed above are Herbaceous, because they are able to photosynthesize. Herbaceous stems are bendable and generally soft. The stems of the plant are extremely essential in the plant's survival because they support the body and leaves.
