The weed in the photograph above is classified as an R-strategist because of the way it reproduces/meaning behind its reproduction. Like other R-strategists, the weed is small and matures quite rapidly. Reproduction of an R-strategist leads to large numbers in population. They tend to maximize the number of offspring that is produced in order to have as many survivors as possible. R-Strategists have little to no parental involvement after the organism is produced.
